What is SymBios™ Broadband Service? |
| |
Broadband refers
to a connection that has capacity to transmit large amount of data at high
speed. Presently a connection having download speed of 256 kbps or more is
classified as broadband. When connected to the Internet such a connection
allows surfing or downloading much faster than a dial-up or any other
narrowband connections. |

What is FTTH and Wireless Broadband Services? |
| |
FTTH stands for
Fiber To The Home. It is a technology that uses OFC to provide a broadband
connection. It provides ‘always-on’ Internet connection that is
automatically established once the PC and Media Converter are switched on
and instant log-in procedure is completed. |
| |
|
| |
Wireless Broadband Services refers to a technology that uses Radio
Frequency (RF) to provide broadband connection. It also is an ‘always-on’
connection that is automatically established once the PC and Wireless
CPE (Client Premise Equipment) are switched on and instant log-in procedure is completed |

3 |
Which mode of connectivity is better, FTTH or Wireless? |
| |
Both the technologies are capable of delivering the right bandwidth at your premises.
Each technology has its own advantages.
While FTTH necessitates the use of OFC to be laid till your premises,
Wireless connectivity is a direct link between our base station and your premises.
Wireless technology is used to minimize downtimes.
FTTH also requires higher maintenance at both our end and client end to maintain the guaranteed uptime.
Wireless connectivity requires least cabling at client premises
and helps to extend connectivity to places with topographical constraints to lay OFC.
SymBios has a mesh network of OFC backhaul and Wireless Base Stations.
Each Wireless Base Station is connected back to back on high bandwidth OFC Network,
thereby ensuring committed bandwidth throughput on wireless network.
This virtually enhances the service level on wireless network to the level of services on FTTH. |

What is “always-on” service? Will there be call charges? |
| |
‘Always-On’ means that the broadband sets up a permanent connection to the
Internet that lets you access the Internet as soon as you switch on
the computer and the CPE and do an instant log-in with your user name and password.
There will be no separate Internet telephone call charges |
| |
|
|
5 |
How fast is
FTTH compared to normal dial-up, ISDN and DIAS connection? |
| |
If you are using
a connection with 1 Mbps down load speed then you are having a speed that is
17.5 times faster that normal dial-up and about 8 times faster than ISDN.

Do I need a
separate line for Symbios Broadband Connection? |
| |
SymBios provides broadband services using wireless technology.
Hence a separate cable or line is not required to be pulled to your premises.
A wireless CPE is installed on your rooftop and a cable is used to connect it to your computer. |
| |
|
|
8 |
Can I use
both phone and SymBios Broadband together? |
| |
Yes. SymBios Broadband Services does not interfere with telephone line.
Conversely, making a phone call while accessing the Internet does not affect the speed of SymBios Broadband connection |
| |
|
|
9 |
What is
download / upload? |
| |
When the
information flows from somewhere e.g. a web-page or a site to your PC you
are “downloading”. On the other hand, when you send information e.g. request
for a web-page, you are “uploading”. |
| |
|
|
10 |
Why are the
download/upload rates different? |
| |
This is perfectly
fine since we download (browsing, downloading clips, music etc) much more
than we upload (a website address, a few clicks etc) |
| |
|
|
